In reply to Mr. Read's letter of the 26th instant (34241/15), relative to the securities held by the Crown Agents for the Colonies as security against the note issue of the Chartered Bank of India, Australia and China, I am directed by the Lords Commissioners of His Majesty's Treasury to request you to inform Mr. Secretary Bonar Law that They approve the proposed exchange of £25,000 War Loan 3% fully paid Bonds for £25,000 City of London 34% Bonds repayable in 1918.
